Enrichment Programs

Resource rooms, chef-prepared healthy meals, gardens, and specialty enrichments expand learning beyond a single classroom.

Oakcrest Preparatory Academy offers additional resource rooms for students, including an Art Studio, Technology Center, Atrium, and Sensory/Tactile Room. These spaces supplement classroom lessons so children do not spend the entire day in one room. Moving between spaces also helps children practice skills such as walking in the hall and following directions. Enrichment activities introduce extracurricular experiences so children can discover interests and strengths. We invest in our students, families, staff, and community.

Together with our chef and a focus on solid, home-cooked, healthy meals, we help families connect early childhood education with healthy choices and physical activity. As part of our Healthy Kids Initiative, our Outdoor Learning Center includes Classroom Gardens where children select, plant, cultivate, and harvest vegetables—and enjoy making a salad from produce they grew themselves.

Yoga Kids

Yoga Kids is an innovative approach that reduces stress and engages mind and body for better learning. Yoga helps children develop emotional intelligence, communication skills, trust, and empathy, and supports teamwork and leadership. Sessions integrate fitness, social-emotional learning, and cognitive skills into age-appropriate activities lasting 5 to 30 minutes, accessible at all skill levels. Oakcrest offers Yoga for Kids in the spring for students ages 3 and up.

In-House Enrichments

Children enjoy a rotation of in-house enrichments including Art, Cooking, Science, and Physical Education. Art explores materials and process-art approaches. Cooking builds math, science, sensory, cooperation, and following-directions skills. Science rotations turn classrooms into labs for hypothesizing, predicting, experimenting, and observing. Physical Education practices gross-motor skills—jump rope, balance, basketball, and hula hoop—outdoors or in the Atrium when weather interferes.

Oakcrest Tumblers

Tumbling is a non-competitive program that teaches basic tumbling and gymnastic skills. It helps children develop motor coordination, flexibility, strength, listening skills, and the ability to follow directions. One- and two-year-old classrooms enjoy music and tumbling in our Atrium throughout the school year.

Charitable Community Investment Fund

The Oakcrest Preparatory Academy Charitable Community Investment Fund is developed through our after-school program to support local arts and science and deepen student civic engagement. Character traits such as compassion, citizenship, generosity, giving, and gratefulness are practiced through giving back. Students help organize time, gifts, efforts, and events. Through Pink Sunshine and sponsored events, proceeds support local charities focused on the welfare of children in our community.

Mr. Music

Mr. Music has been part of Oakcrest enrichment since we opened. The Mr. Music Man Company was established in 2000 by Robert and Cynthia Lowery. Music professionals deliver high-energy lessons that develop gross- and fine-motor skills, social health, and cognition through a play-while-you-learn approach covering scales, chords, note recognition, and tempo using games, music, and dance.

TotStart Tennis

TotStart Tennis combines fun with structured athletic movement, hand-eye skills, and an introduction to tennis. Designed for ages roughly 2–5, it builds on children’s ability to catch and throw while channeling energy into learning.

Alpha Soccer

Alpha Soccer Enrichment introduces soccer beginning at age two. Soccer builds social skills, physical ability, confidence, character, and leadership through age-adjusted scenarios that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving—with an emphasis on fun.
