Explorers Sign Language

Sign language for our youngest students—ages 6 weeks through 2 years—to communicate needs and build early literacy foundations.

Explorers Sign Language is designed for our youngest students, ages 6 weeks through 2 years. The program teaches simple signs for eat, milk, more, all done, thank you, and many others. By reinforcing key spoken words with sign, educators share messages both orally and visually, helping focus attention while strengthening understanding of words and concepts.

When young children can communicate their needs, they can express themselves more clearly and with less frustration. Infants learn not only to communicate basic needs, but also that symbols and signs can represent other things—an understanding that is essential before beginning to read.
