Spanish

Children experience Spanish in everyday contexts—calendar, games, songs, and routines—throughout the day.

All children at Oakcrest Preparatory Academy experience Spanish in context each day. We introduce Spanish naturally in everyday language so children retain information and understand how it is used. Teachers present the calendar in both Spanish and English; we play games that replace English color words with Spanish; and we line up by counting in Spanish.

Children learn songs such as Cabeza, Hombros, Rodillas, y Pies (Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes), as well as months of the year and days of the week in Spanish. Spanish is woven into lesson plans and activities throughout the day. Introducing Spanish repeatedly in daily routines helps children absorb the language more naturally than traditional stand-alone Spanish programs.
